California Drought to End; California massive flooding to Begin | |
2017-01-07 | |
[WattsUpWithThat] An atmospheric river will take aim with heavy precipitation, high snow levels and soils that are already saturated from recent storms. Precipitation starts Saturday, but the brunt of the storm will be Sunday & Monday. Forecasters say this will exceed stream and river flood levels last seen in 2005. nice graphics at the link

#8 Reasonable conservation practices in California, and the rest of the Southwest are for the most part common sense. No matter if it is redidential, agriculture or industrial. If LA and the rest of SoCal had to live on the water it has naturally the population would be maybe 10% of what it is now. California will continue to be subject to periods of drought until low cost, really low cost desalination can come on line. But that will require energy and the fringe of the environmental movements will do anything to stop the development of the energy sources needed.Be they solar, fission, wind, ocean thermal, fusion (I keep hoping) or fairy dust. |

#7 Flooding closely followed by another 'drough There will always be a drought. To do otherwise would mean giving up control. |

#6 Now that the drought is over it'd be nice if they'd lower the water rates. But I think we all know better. Watch them continue to allow construction of more and more massive housing tracts with big green lawns and sprinklers sprinkling every morning so the next drought is even worse. Then they'll tell us we need to conserve. |

#4 TW, I learned at my fathers knee 60 years or so ago that this kind of $hit was bull $hit. Then I got into computers almost 50 years ago and learned the ins and outs of modeling. See, edumacation can help you figure out the "lies, damn lies and statistics" of the world. 8^) |

#3 You captured the spirit of the meaning here, Phil. If I give you water, what shall you do with it? If I give you food or money, what shall you do with it? |

#2 Flooding closely followed by another 'drought, as they haven't built dams to capture the water. |
