| Captured terror suspect turns out to be one of LNA’s most wanted men |

When he was detained, it was not realised that Mustafa al-Sohaibi was in fact Abu Alzupir al-Ansari, the Ansar al-Sharia ...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet... commander who had held Benghazi’s Gwarsha Gate until the LNA wrested it from terrorist control last November. When he was first questioned Sohabi had explained that the two women and four children, including a baby, who were with him were not members of his family but that he was taking them to safety. Major Ben Barka Majbri of the LNA’s Office of Military Affairs explained that Sohaibi’s vehicle had run out of fuel south of Ajdabiya. He had set off on foot to find a taxi when he was stopped and detained. It is unclear whether the women and kiddies were walking with him. When he was searched he was found to have LD 60,000 as well as foreign currency including Turkish lira, euros and US dollars. In addition he had an Ansar al-Sharia seal and terrorist literature. It is understood that Sohaibi was only identified as a terrorist commander when his picture was put out on social media. |
