| Blast in southeastern Turkey kills 4 policemen | |

| An explosion occurred in Turkey’s southeastern city of Diyarbakir, the NTV channel reported Jan. 16. Reportedly, the blast occurred in the city’s Sur district, where the Dicle University campus is located. The number of policemen killed by the explosion in Diyarbakir’s Sur district has reached four, and other two policemen are injured, the Milliyet newspaper reports. The number of the injured people has reached nine, NTV reports. The condition of the injured people is serious. According to preliminary reports, the explosion was caused by an explosive device installed on the roadside near the campus of the Dicle University. The blast occurred when an armored police car was passing by. According to Milliyet, several policemen were stuck inside the car mangled by the explosion. Employees of the Emergency Situations Ministry and firefighters are working at the site.
