[DAWN] KASUR: Police on Sunday started the paperwork but haven't done much else against a man on charges of blasphemy at Sheikhum village, Sara-e-Mughal.Abid Rasheed in his complaint lodged with police said suspect ’S’ had an argument with his friend Saqib Sattar over a trifle a couple of days back. During the course of discussion, the suspect allegedly uttered derogatory remarks about a companion of the prophet. The FIR quoted the complainant as saying that the suspect later repented of what he had said.
Sara-e-Mughal police registered the case under section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage the religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion and religious beliefs) and 298-A (use of derogatory remarks, etc in respect of holy personages) of PPC.
