[Stars & Stripes] Retired Lt. Gen. Harold G. "Hal" Moore, the American hero known for saving most of his men in the first major battle between the U.S. and North Vietnamese armies, has died. He was 94.

#2  Spent an afternoon on a staff ride with him discussing terrain and it's influence on maneuver as a young company commander. Brilliant tactician, grounded in common sense and plain language, easy manner and charismatic command presence. I was honored!
