Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Head of Hīt District Council in Anbar Province Mohamed al-Mohamadi declared on Thursday, that three civilians were wounded in a car bomb explosion, north of the district.Mohamadi said in a press statement, “A booby-trapped vehicle exploded, at noon today, in al-Cournish Street, north of the city of Hīt (70 km west of Ramadi).”
“The explosion resulted in the injury of three civilians, as well as causing damage to some nearby shops and outlets,” Mohamadi added.
Meanwhile, Member of Anbar Provincial Council, Naeem al-Kaoud, said that security forces have to reinforce the security procedures in Hīt District to protect civilians.
Kaoud also emphasized the importance of chasing the sleeper cells of the Islamic State or any other groups, to prevent any further terrorist attacks against civilians and security forces.
Noteworthy, Hīt District is now controlled by security forces and tribal fighters, after liberating it from the Islamic State that controlled it for two years.
