| #1 The first such designation was issued to a 55-year-old individual who had female genitalia, male chromosomes and a combination of male and female internal reproductive organs. A pet issue of mine of mine is that there are people who are genuinely not XX or XY, and they are more common than you might think (as I recall from my genetics classes a long time ago). However, in reporting they are lumped in with those want to change sex for psychological or lifestyle reasons. Jeez, it's almost a fashion statement these days. The former deserve medical help. The rest obviously don't. |
