| YBS fend off ISIS attack south of Shingal |

| [RUDAW.NET] Yezidi forces fended off an ISIS attack south of Shingal mountain, Monday night and into Tuesday. Around midnight on Monday, ISIS murderous Moslems began an attack on positions of the Shingal Protection Units (YPG) in the villages of Skiniye and Hayale, at the southeast base of the mountain, the YBS command detailed in a statement published Wednesday. Clashes continued through midday on Tuesday near Tewra village, 8 kilometres southwest of Skiniye and Hayale. "As a result of actions our forces implemented, the gangs’ attacks were broken and they had to retreat," the statement read, as published by ANF News and confirmed to Rudaw English by YBS commander Zardasht Shingli. One member of the PKK’s armed wing, the HPG, was killed when their forces came to assist the Yezidi forces. The YBS reported killing 11 ISIS murderous Moslems and destroying several of their vehicles. As many as 13 villages and complexes in the Shingal region are still held by ISIS despite major setbacks of the group across the northern part of Iraq. |
