| 69 militants die in Afghan operations |

| At least 69 Taliban and Daesh militants were killed during Afghan security forces’ ground and air operations in the past 48 hours in different parts of the country, security officials said. The 201 Selab Military Corps said in a statement on Monday that at least 34 Daesh militants were killed in an airstrike in Nangarhar. The airstrike was carried out in Achin district and Daesh hideouts were targeted, said the statement. According to the statement a Daesh local commander, Farooq, was also killed in the airstrike. Meanwhile the 205 Maiwand Corps said in a statement on Monday at least 35 Taliban insurgents were killed in Uruzgan province. According to the statement the Taliban insurgents were targeted during Afghan forces’ airstrikes and ground operations in several districts of Uruzgan province. Several other insurgents were also wounded. During the operation, weapons were also seized by the Afghan forces. No details were provided about military and civilian casualties. |
