Units from the Syrian Arab Army’s Elite Republican Guard led the way on Thursday, striking the Islamic State Lions of Islam at the al-Huwiqah, al-Arfi, and al-Baghiliyah districts of Deir Ezzor City. While their Elite Republican Guard units attacked the aforementioned districts, the Syrian Arab Army’s 137th Artillery Brigade carried out their own assault on the Islamic State’s positions around the military airport and Saqr Island. |
