Ten major FBI scandals on James Comey's watch
2017-05-11
[Grabien News] News just broke that President Trump is dismissing the director of the FBI, James Comey.

Comey will inevitably be remembered for the controversial role he played in the 2016 presidential election, where his agency conducted surveillance of the Trump campaign as well as investigated the Clinton camp for mishandling classified materials, giving both sides arguments for how the FBI ultimately swayed the vote.

But even before the 2016 campaign, the FBI endured a number of humiliations under Comey's tenure. Most damning were revelations that the FBI was generally aware of almost every terrorist who successfully struck America over the last eight years.

Here are 10 of Comey's biggest embarrassments at the FBI:

1. Before he bombed the Boston Marathon, the FBI interviewed Tamerlan Tsarnaev but let him go. Russia sent the Obama Administration a second warning, but the FBI opted against investigating him again.

2. Shortly after the NSA scandal exploded in 2013, the FBI was exposed conducting its own data mining on innocent Americans; the agency, Bloomberg reported, retains that material for decades (even if no wrongdoing is found).

3. The FBI had possession of emails sent by Nidal Hasan saying he wanted to kill his fellow soldiers to protect the Taliban -- but didn't intervene, leading many critics to argue the tragedy that resulted in the death of 31 Americans at Fort Hood could have been prevented.

#9  Even though Comey was dismissed, the sun came up this morning. No massive walk-outs at FBI Main or any of the field offices. My mail arrived at about the same time. Gasoline prices appear to be unchanged. Mother's Day has not been cancelled. None of my neighbors have been... caught away into the clouds. The Russians are still the Russians.

#8  Scandal #11 - the "The Innocence of Muslims" Nakoula debacle. Similar to the Tsarnaev deal - Nakoula was directly tied to a Islamic Terror financier when he was arrested for money laundering/fraud prior to the film being made - likely recruited by the FBI, if not, why not...and the film contributed to the whole unrest mess that that Hillary blamed for causing Benghazi...

"50 bucks says that Comey will show up to work today because he couldn't discern intent from that letter."

#4  Only 10? Why does it seem like so many more? Maybe it's all this drama queen's face time on TV and before Congress. Comey and Loretta Lynch and the DOJ and the FBI by trying to cover up all the scandals and protecting the arses of the Clintons and Obama. He would have better-served the country just by following the Constitution and the law rather than dancing on the head of a pin.

#3  McPhee's theory is that the Tamerlan Tsarnaev was very likely a recruited FBI asset. Her book, which is a fascinating read BTW, makes a very compelling case. She has certainly 'run the traps.'

#2  Maybe we SHOULD let the russians hack the FBI, they seem to do better at terorrism than the FBI does.

#1  Michele R. McPhee, Maximum Harm, The Tsarnaev Brothers, The FBI, And The Road to The Marathon Bombing, pg 143.

The office of the Inspector General for the Intelligence Community examined those issues and the questions of whether Tamerlan was an asset (and if he wan't, why not) in its report on information sharing among the intelligence community:

1. Why did the CT (Counterterrorism Unit of the FBI) agent not visit Tamerlan's mosque [in Cambridge]?

2. Why did the CT agent not interview the woman Tamerlan was accused of assaulting?

3. Why did the CT agent not interview Tamerlan's wife, Katherine Russell aka Krina [sic] Tsarnaeva?

4. Why was Tamerlan not asked about if he sympathized with Chechen rebels?
