| Fierce LNA clashes with Benghazi militants, Saiqa arms dump explosion report |

| [Libya Herald] There have been fierce festivities in Benghazi’s Suq al-Hout district today as the Libyan National Army (LNA) continued to assault hard boy positions. There has also been a series of The LNA has given no details of the fighting nor of casualties on either side. Roads surrounding both the besieged downtown districts remain closed to civilian traffic and troops have been warning residents close to the front lines to leave their homes. Meanwhile there are unconfirmed reports of a substantial kaboom in the south of the city at a Saiqa Special Forces ...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group... weapons dump. An army source said the blast at Nuwagiya had been caused by the heat. Yet munitions are often poorly stored and in the past this has caused other kabooms. However, today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday... sabotage cannot be ruled out. On the eve of the third anniversary celebrations of the start of the Dignity (Karama) operation against Benghazi’s hard boy Islamists, some sort of attempted spectacular attack is expected. |
