PTI accuses govt of softening its stance on Jadhav's execution

[DAWN] Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
's (PTI) politician Shafqat Mahmood on Tuesday criticised the government over its 'handling' of Kulbhushan Jadhav's hearing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and urged the federal government to divulge details of the matter before the parliament so that it could be brought under discussion.

Asserting that matters regarding national security and foreign affairs should not be decided behind closed doors, Mahmood said, "It was important to ask how a 'clear' decision against a self-confessed spy and 'terrorist' was made controversial."

The ICJ on Monday heard the case brought to it by India pertaining to the sentencing of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was handed a death sentence by a Pak Field General Court Martial (FGCM) last month.

Implying that the government had 'deliberately' softened its stance on Jadhav, Mahmood said experts were drawing links between Pakistain's handling of Jadhav's case with Indian business tycoon Sajjan Jindal's visit to Pakistain last month where he met with the prime minister in Murree.

"Nobody should be allowed to trade personal interests with national interests," he maintained.

Mahmood urged the prime minister to disclose information regarding Jadhav's hearing at the ICJ before the parliament.
