| #8 This is interesting. In the past Mark Steyn and others have argued that immigration was the only was to preserve European socialism. When you don't have babies, it's the only way to preserve the broad tax base that supports generous benefits. But if your immigrants consume more than half of all revenue, then it can't be about supporting revenue. Maybe at this point it's more desperate. Maybe now the only thing that matters is importing enough votes to keep you and your crony friends in office. |
