#12  Surprised nobody has built a South Africa to Egypt rail line already.

Cecil Rhodes wanted to do it in the 19th century.

#11  Procopius2k, that is exactly why i would have thought the UN or NGOs would have pushed such an idea long ago.

#10  ....Has to be something of value at both ends and along the line to be useful, and not ripped off by every kleptocracy along the way. The latter sort of kills off the ROI.

#9  Surprised nobody has built a South Africa to Egypt rail line already. Terrain is a nightmare but it might really help the continent.

#8  One could almost believe the Chinese were building the California High-Speed Fail System.

Now there's an idea for California, allow a couple 100 thousand illegal Chinese in to build it. It's not like they haven't built one before. Sort of allows more diversity in your population and more people you don't feel bad about discriminating against again.

#5  Railways are the canals of the 21st century. Hugely expensive anachronisms.

#4  Kenya buried in debt due to the Chinese Rail Line? One could almost believe the Chinese were building the California High-Speed Fail System.

#3  I subscribe to the China Uncensored Youtube channel. You can criticize him for over sensationalising the material, but he is solid on the facts.

I'd say he is more reliable than most MSM reporting on China.

#1  Might help explain Kenya's buying of non-IED resistant military vehicles from China, as discussed here in a recent article.
