| Key militant arrested in Swat |

| [DAWN] MINGORA: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Swat police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested a key militant from Chuprial Bazaar in Matta tehsil here. According to police, a high profile militant identified as Javed was arrested following a tip-off. He was allegedly wanted to law enforcement agencies in several anti-state and terrorist activities during the Swat insurgency. “He along with other militants conducted a hand grenade attack on peace militia when they were in a mosque at Gwalrai area of Matta tehsil in 2008, leaving 11 people dead,” said a statement issued from the office of CTD Swat. He was allegedly involved in the abduction of 55 persons belonging to peace militia in Swat too. The police shifted him to unidentified location soon after his arrest for further investigation. |
