High Court reinstates Trump travel ban, will hear arguments
2017-06-26
[WAPO] WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court is letting the Trump administration mostly enforce its 90-day ban on travelers from six mostly Muslim countries, overturning lower court orders that blocked it.

The action Monday is a victory for President Donald Trump in the biggest legal controversy of his young presidency.

The court did leave one category of foreigners protected, those "with a credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States," the court said in an unsigned opinion.

The justices will hear arguments in the case in October.

#11  Power by importing votes by any means necessary regardless of what will happen to the American people is the goal of a debased Democratic party bosses in this country.

Next, put them in chains.

#10  All 13 judges on those two courts who voted to strike down the revised travel ban were appointed by Democratic presidents.

And there lies the problem...

July, August, September. 90 days. It will be OBE by then. The court can dismiss. Oh, don't think they didn't know that. Thus not saying yes, not saying no. Avoiding a constitutional crisis posed by the lower judiciary.

#8  From a USA Today article - Through all the defeats, Trump was forced to play on what amounts to his opponents' home turf: The 9th Circuit, based in San Francisco, is dominated by President Bill Clinton's nominees. The 4th Circuit, based in Richmond, is dominated by President Barack Obama's nominees. All 13 judges on those two courts who voted to strike down the revised travel ban were appointed by Democratic presidents.

#7  The Category they protected seems quite reasonable to me, since those persons and entities will be held accountable for those foreigners.

#6  Blinding flash... but this is a very significant development. If Kennedy retires, the left will undoubtedly rampage.

#5  Let's hope they decide favorably on religious rights of people who don't want to bake cakes. Is Kennedy going to retire?

#4  A pox on the U.S. left-wing, Obama-affiliated District Courts who waged war against something that was Trump's Constitutional right.
