Student who registered the dead to vote is headed to prison
2017-06-27
[American Thinker] Another voter fraud case that we can safely ignore because, as we all know, there's no such thing as voter fraud.

A Democratic party operative in Virginia is going to jail for 100 days after pleading guilty to registering dead people to vote. James Madison University student Andrew J. Spieles, 21, worked for Harrisonburg Votes, a political organization affiliated with the Democratic Party.

As it turns out, the young man wasn't very bright.

#11  Article didn't say if he was convicted of a FELONY.

The DoJ write-up can be seen here. Do they do anything less than felonies?

#8  Barbara, even if he had been convicted of a felony, our governor would just pardon him. Maybe even award a medal for outstanding service to the Democratic Party.

#7  Article didn't say if he was convicted of a FELONY. That would mess his employment chances up good. And 100 days isn't nearly enough.

#6  100 days is not enough.

Not by a long shot. Five to ten in Leavenworth might be a little more like it...maybe twenty. People need to know they'll do hard time if they're caught doing this type of thing.

#4  Looks like a walk sheet is a database of information. At best, when the door-to-door campaign worker knocks on your door, he knows your name. At worst, he doesn't need to knock on your door to register you to vote.

#2  Not quite - Spieles later admitted that he prepared the false voter registration forms by obtaining the name, age, and address of individuals from "walk sheets" provided to him by the Virginia Democratic Party

Perhaps the provision of said 'walk sheets' is routine - I don't know what they are.

#1  Spieles admitted that he created all 18 fraudulent forms himself and that no one else participated in the crime.

Possibly even true.
