Farmer wounded in IED attack in Tawakkul village Diyala (IraqiNews.com) A farmer was seriously injured as an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in a village northeast of Diyala governorate on Wednesday, according to Alsumaria News. A local source told Alsumaria that an IED planted on the side of a road in Tawakkul village, Diyala, exploded today, leaving a farmer with serious injuries. Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source added that security forces opened an inquiry into the incident. Some areas in Diyala have seen a surge over the past months in bombings and armed attacks against security members, paramilitary groups and civilians. On Sunday, a civilian was reportedly wounded in a similar IED explosion in northeast of Diyala, Islamic State militants had launched attacks against security troops, the pro-government forces and civilians over the past few months in northeast of the province |
