A: No ballroom.

#13  Heat to the balls decreases sperm count

I knew it was because of global warming!

#12  Boxers, not tighty whities.

#11  Heat to the balls decreases sperm count. We have more restrictive underwear and pants then in the old days and we sit. A lot.

Go commando, wear loose pants and walk/stand most of the time and sperm counts shoot up in most cases.

#10  Somewhere I read that smoking dope is linked to a decreased sperm count.

Not really, the swimmers are just a little laid back.

#9  Was just kidding. Anyways, low sperm counts is not a problem as there is artificial insemination.

#8  ...within 10 km radius of where I sit.

No doubt whatsoever, g(r)omgoru. I haven't read the article, but I suspect the aging of the baby boom generation has something to do with it.

Incidentally, the testosterone precurser DHEA is available in pill form in the vitamin aisle of American grocery stores and drugstores for a few dollars a bottle. In most cases that will ameliorate the problem while all the plausibly associated factors are -- or are not -- dealt with.

#7  Somewhere I read that smoking dope is linked to a decreased sperm count. Anyone else heard/read this?

#6  Obesity as a cause?

Given that portraits of old Ottoman and Mongol emperors revealed a rather portly bunch, I believe the access to the means had more to do with it. Also, given that so much of the inner city is overrun with feral youth, there seems to be a corollary of access and the resources to 'feed the kids'. You get more of what you subsidize.

#5  I'm sure, even as we speak, several startups to address the problem are being organized within 10 km radius of where I sit.

#4  Women passing through large amounts of female hormones in BC pills into the water supplies gets my vote as the reason.

#3  8 years of Obama and the count is down? No surprise there. Plus the French, don't forget the French.

And almost all of the Democrats, of course. Who's Left?

More for the rest of us. Go by your local Babies R Us store and check out the merchandise. Business isn't a problem there.

#2  Environmental influences, heat, lifestyle factors, diet, stress, smoking, and obesity - both prenatally and in adult life - have all been “plausibly associated” with the decline, according to the study.

Obesity as a cause? Please re-examine the numbers.

#1  Including the sperm count of formerly female 'men' in the average would certainly pull it down.
