Syrian military resumes east Damascus offensive after short hiatus
2017-07-31
[AlMasdar] The Syrian military resumed their offensive in the eastern suburbs of Damascus, Sunday, following the rejection of a ceasefire offered to Faylaq Al-Rahman militants in exchange for the expulsion of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham from the East Ghouta region.

To begin the day, Syrian jets flying from a nearby airbase pounded the ‘Ayn Tarma Triangle where a large number of Faylaq Al-Rahman militants were present.

Targeting the militant areas around the Sonbol Station, Syrian jets hammered Faylaq Al-Rahman militants for much of the morning, while their allies from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) heavily shelled the latter’s positions.

As of now, the Syrian Arab Army is still pounding Faylaq Al-Rahman’s positions with heavy artillery shells; however, they are preparing to launch a ground assault that will target the militant group’s last positions around the Sonbol Station.
