[Met.police] Officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command have arrested a man on suspicion of preparation of acts to commit terrorism. The 49-year-old man was stopped by officers at Southend Airport under schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000 on Tuesday 1 August. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of preparation of acts to commit terrorism, under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. The man, who was arrested under PACE, was taken to a south London police station, where he remains in police custody. Officers also carried out a search at an address in Essex, which is now complete. Enquiries continue. |
