#5 Where's my Farmer's Almanac? We had a woman up at Crab Orchard, TN by the name of Helen Lane who predicted winters from nature's signs. She was as good as anyone trained in meteorology. She passed away a few years ago. Her daughter has picked up the mantle of weather prognostications. Crossville Chronicle article. The last time we hit zero in these parts was 1996, and the record low was minus 24--January 21st, 1985! I'm hoping we don't see anything close to that this winter. |

#4 Like most of the summer so far. I was camping in northern Michigan last week & heard small children waking up at 0300 & complaining of being cold, a rare event in my experience. |
