#6  At least the electronics is more stable. Adjusting Loran and other radio navaids with analog circuits was a pain in the patootie.

#3  Glenmore---they never went away. Even during WW2 you could still get time signals by radio.

There is an old adage in aviation: if you are flying along fat dumb and happy, there is something that you are not doing. I had my GPS wink out on me once on top of a cloud deck. I knew my position, speed, and direction every 15 min. Just drew the course on my map and 30 min later I was in the clear.

#1  This article is from today's gCaptain. There are now serious threats from jamming and/or spoofing of GPS signals. This has occurred often in Korea, where the NORKs are busy causing mischief. SKor, US, and Russia are considering and updated version of Loran, called eLoran. Read the whole thing.
