At Least Eight Reasons Why The Talk Of North Korea Leveling Seoul Is Simply Wrong

#12  Well written and nicely done. Some broad assumptions from the author. This is a total war perspective. An all at Soul or nothing. Firing on Seoul will cause mass panic. I have heard they can house millions in bomb shelters. So now the panic starts. It wont take much to bring the city to complete ineffectiveness. I do agree that the millions casualty reports are propaganda. But dropping any 155 rounds into urban areas will cause fairly large casualty rates. I'm all for sending in the Buffs to clear out their arty. Send in the rocket to clear out the missile bases, nuke missile compounds, the military HQ and comms/ada, and to remove Kimmi from the face of this earth. From there the Russians and Chinese can fight over whats left.

#11  Except, China might be curious what can be expected of USA nowadays.

#10  If it comes to blows, look for China to move first. Kim will commit "suicide", China will "volunteer" to help "stabilize" the situation. A people's committee or something will take over. They'll renounce nukes ... for now.

The NoKos are crazy enough to fight. China is not prepared to let that happen. Lucky for me too, because I'm looking to buy some flash drives in the coming months. Wouldn't do to have Samsung bombed.

#9  Glenmore is right. This is about extortion. It worked in the past, and he reasons it will continue to work. Just need to rachet up the threats and the goodies will come.

Like a perverse Cargo Cult.

#8  This about playing chicken between a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Peterbilt 18 wheeler. At some point the little shit will realize that this truck driver won't swerve. The language of confrontation may shock the snowflakes at the NYSlimes but Chubby gets it, he just can't believe it, yet!

#7  IMO Kim is actually acting rationally. His economy is non-existent and his previous threats got him 'deals' from the US, so he expects threats to succeed again (and he knows China is ok with it, for now.) Would he actually USE nukes ? I doubt it, but if he is convinced we would not retaliate in kind he just might, if he thought it would get him some goodies. Trump is just putting some doubt in his mind.

#6  A nice piece, well written, and it assumes that the NKors will use a conventional attack with conventional HE warheads. The Allies stopped the Germans cold in May 1940 by the exact same reasoning...

#5  How come we don't see headlines about Sork dignitaries coming to Israel to buy Iron Dome?

#4  If the decapitation strike works and kills youth leader and the people around him, there is a good chance that the nkor artillery will not fire.

#3  I don't think Trump is going to draw some imaginary line only to be ignored as was the case with "O." He won't screw around with fatboy--he will end the problem that has festered for a long time. Fatboy does not seem to display any military genius. He is more like a spoiled 10 year boy with a bunch of military toys for his use.

#2  Yes, quite excellent indeed. Provides some needed perspective to the myth that millions living in and around Seoul will die from North Korean artillery.

I suspect we'll see some Nork 'ranging' (bracketing or as the press is saying 'envelope with multiple rockets') in the waters off Guam in the coming weeks. Not certain if that will trigger a U.S. response, but it very likely will.
