US Navy halts worldwide fleet operations after deadly collision
2017-08-22
[Iran Press TV] The US Navy has ordered a worldwide "operational pause" following the collision of the USS John S. McCain and a cargo vessel in the Pacific Ocean.

The USS John S. McCain collided with the oil tanker Alnic MC on Monday morning local time while the guided-missile destroyer was passing near the Malacca Strait to make a port visit in Singapore, the Navy's 7th Fleet said in a statement.

The dramatic pre-dawn collision, which left 10 sailors missing and five people injured, was the second major accident involving a US warship in two months.

#4  I am trying hard to understand what "suspending fleet operations" means? Did they find an empty patch of ocean, drop anchor and sit there watching the clouds blow by?

#3  Turn that damn alarm off! I'm trying to study.

#2  The sailors were probably looking over their notes so that could pass the test for their Sensitivity Rating. More important than study for Old School things like seamanship, electronics and other trivia.

#1  Nobody's watching. What do they think they are, a merchant ship?
