History Is Repeating Itself, Tragedy or Farce Unclear So Far
2017-08-29
[American Thinker] In my younger years, studying world and American history in school, I used to wonder how people of those past times could have been so stupid. How could people actually believe that Hitler was a righteous man? How could they be convinced that Jews were evil and Nazism was good? Germans and Japanese at that time must have been crazy.

Didn’t Americans understand that a civil war between states could lead to incredible bloodshed? How could people who shared the same heritage and culture go at each other’s throats so readily? It seemed like fantasy to me. People must have been completely different back then, much more gullible and ignorant.

How could it have been possible for Josef Stalin to starve tens of millions of Ukrainians to death with no resistance? How could Mao, as leader of the world’s largest population, starve to death tens of millions of his own people without opposition? It seemed impossible, almost like fiction.

After 65 years of my existence, I now realize that people have not changed. The ignorance of man is not a fantasy, it is real and enduring.

It is a different world, yet the same. We are the same human race that killed six million Jews under the Nazis, slaughtered 620,000 Americans in the Civil War, and murdered tens of millions of Ukrainian and Chinese citizens under Communism.

In our modern, so sophisticated Western world, we welcome the conquerors and assassins of an ancient culture into our society, where they can continue conquering and slaying us with our complete cooperation.

We welcome laws suppressing our freedom to speak, to own property, to operate a small business, and to defend ourselves. We actively oppose the Constitution that brought us where we are today.

#6  Those who are trying to arrange another civil war will fail. Attempts at gun control have failed for the most part. The State does not grant all of our rights. The elites who foster such chaos, unrest, and destruction will not be immune.

#4  The Holocaust. Stalin's USSR purges. Mao's Great Leap Forward. All have at least this in common: the victims did not fight back while their persecutors murdered them.

And the Author is comparing THOSE to the American Civil War, where BOTH sides fought? Certainly he points out oppressions and abuses that were made possible by leftists/demoncrats in positions of Authority that took advantage of our high regard for the Rule of Law, but that's not the same thing as being dragged out of our homes to be shipped in cattle cars to the death camps. Their current fury revolves around the loss of the veneer of Constitutional Authority conferred by the Presidency, that Trump now holds. The charade of impeachment is a fig leaf to try to make his removal appear constitutional and not trigger the Second Civil War.

Far from scaring me, I suddenly have realized that WE WILL FIGHT. These fools, capable of swallowing the falsehood that Venezuela is NOW a Worker's Paradise, and that Americans are like German Jews, Russian Kulaks, and Confucian Chinese.

Stupid thought: those who laugh at the concept of American Exceptionalism are gonna whine and complain when Americans start acting different from their Old World counterparts.

#3  P2K, Most likely, a hell of a lot better off.

In keeping with the Rochester study posted yesterday, I'm trying to swear more as it is a sign of intelligence. I'm also running around at home naked. I'm going for that smart glasses Lenscrafter look also. I'm trying to avoid the mirror as there is this droopiness and I look like a naked dumbass with glasses who mutters to himself.

#2  Imagine a Civil War where blue fought red, but only when red came to blue states because blue was terrified to go to red states where the people were armed and the government didn't put with that crap. Oh, and also dark blue fought with light blue in those blue states.

It'll be a short civil war and it'll turn the slightly red country far redder the longer it progresses.

#1  Would we be here if we didn't covet, or bear false witness, or (use government to) steal?
