[The Nation] Militants threw two small pipe bombs at a police checkpoint booth and a rented police house in Narathiwat’s Rusoh district on Tuesday, but no one has been reported harmed. The bombs landed on the Tanyong checkpoint booth’s roof and on the rented house’s front awning. They exploded, resulting in damage to the roof and ceiling tiles. Police investigators said the attack took place a little before noon and they believe it was carried out as part of the insurgency in the far South.
Police spokesman Arkhom Chanleun said officers were patroling the nearby market area at the time of attack. Some officers were heading back towards the checkpoint when two men on a motorcycle approached the checkpoint from behind, hurled the bombs and sped away.
The blast caused market vendors to panic and scramble for safety, but nobody was hurt.
