Eight killed, including gunman, in shooting at Texas home 'Cowboys' viewing party
2017-09-11
[Reuters] DALLAS - A gunman killed seven people at a home in a Dallas suburb on Sunday evening before being shot dead by police called to the scene, authorities said.

The shooting took place in Plano, a suburb north of Dallas.

David Tilley, a spokesman for the Plano Police Department, said the shooter was killed by the first responding officer after an exchange of gunfire. The officer was not injured.

Seven people were found dead in the Plano home.

Two additional shooting victims were taken to a local hospital. Their condition was unknown.

"We’re trying to put all the puzzle pieces together," Tilley said.

There was no information yet on the relationship between the suspect and the victims. Local media reports that the shooting occurred at a Dallas Cowboys viewing party could not be confirmed either.

#13  My mistake, that's what I get for skimming through too fast.

Local news apparently did update with more information, it's kind of eerie how similar the two incidents are.

#12  From the updated story at Snomble Throluter4608's link:

Relatives confirmed to WFAA-TV (Channel 8) on Monday that one of the victims was 27-year-old Meredith Hight and that her estranged husband was the shooter.

"She was a cook, and a quite fine one, and she loved hosting friends and families," said her mother, Debbie Lane. "This was her first opportunity to do it after the divorce, and he didn't take it well."

A small photo of the pretty, blond Ms Hight can now be seen at the link.

#11  #5's dallasnews.com link's considerably updated. At first skim it looks to be your typical Plano octomurder.

#10  More on eight dead (As usual, the best and more complete story is from oversea.) With pictures of perps

It seems that five of the "adults" were children.

Appears to be a domestic dispute.

That's a Houston incident from 2015. Plano is a couple of hundred miles away. It's fairly high-income.

It's a known fact that albino Amish people photograph poorly and the AP Stylebook says their names are easily misspelled...

#5  A neighbor said a friend of one of the homeowners said the violence had been sparked by a domestic dispute, but police have provided no details about the relationships between the victims and the gunman. The couple identified in public records as the homeowners sought a divorce in July.

#3  I saw it on the crawl on the NBC news coverage of the hurricane. But I live in the next-door suburb.
