US government wiretapped former Trump campaign chairman
2017-09-19
[CNN, yes CNN] US investigators wiretapped former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort under secret court orders before and after the election, sources tell CNN, an extraordinary step involving a high-ranking campaign official now at the center of the Russia meddling probe.

The government snooping continued into early this year, including a period when Manafort was known to talk to President Donald Trump.

Some of the intelligence collected includes communications that sparked concerns among investigators that Manafort had encouraged the Russians to help with the campaign, according to three sources familiar with the investigation. Two of these sources, however, cautioned that the evidence is not conclusive.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's team, which is leading the investigation into Russia's involvement in the election, has been provided details of these communications.

A secret order authorized by the court that handles the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) began after Manafort became the subject of an FBI investigation that began in 2014. It centered on work done by a group of Washington consulting firms for Ukraine's former ruling party, the sources told CNN.

#8  Muller and his henchmen do not require an indictment. All they need to do is to financially destroy their prey. They have virtually unlimited resources to do it, same methodology as the former Soviet Union. The late Ted Stevens was indicted by the Bush Justice Dept, and right during a reelection campaign. Eventually he was exonerated after the election, but the damage was done. Some scathing comments by the Judge toward DoJ lawyers, but nobody lost their jobs and nobody went to jail.

#4  We can't even get our own government to hand over the Clinton emails. With all the kak that's been tossed their way, what leverage could we possibly have to retrieve anything from the Russians? Their mission is confusion, obstruction, and western destabilization, not problem resolution. Wat could possibly be in it for the Russians ?

#3  encouraged the Russians to help with the campaign

Help how? I still have no idea what exactly the Russians were supposed to have done....other than release Hillarys e-mail.

#1  And now through Mueller and the crooked FBI, the gov't is on a quest for discovery. How else can their mischief be justified ?

Similar to the MI6 Christopher Steele Trump dossier, "the evidence is not conclusive."

Some topics are just better discussed on the 'back nine' at Andrews or Belvoir, particularly if your flagship hotel and campaign headquarters are little more than a stone's throw from the British consulate.
