(LeT) bomb expert Syed Abdul Karim Tunda was pronounced guilty in 1996 Sonipat kaboom case on Monday by a court in Haryana. The quantum of sentence to the case will be announced on Tuesday. On December 28, 1996, a series of blasts were triggered in a cinema hall at Sonipat which left several people injured. CBI has charged Tunda for organising LeT’s major terror attacks in India. According to police Tunda, an aide of India’s most wanted Dawood Ibrahim, is alleged to be involved in at least 40 kabooms in Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesg, Haryana, Punjab, Hyderabad and Surat. He is wanted in at least 21 cases in Delhi alone. Tunda was earlier arrested in 1994, but had managed to escape to Dhaka. He was trained to make improvised bombs in Bangladesh and Pakistain. |
