| Taliban attack in Paktika stopped |

| The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a statement on Monday that the Afghan border police foiled a Taliban offensive in south-eastern Paktika on Sunday night, killing five insurgents. In addition, eight other insurgents were wounded. “Last night, a group of armed Taliban launched a coordinated attack on Afghan National Border Police check posts in Wali Was region, Giyan district of Paktika province,” it said. “Afghan National Border Police have repelled an attack in which five armed Taliban were killed and eight other armed Taliban were wounded,” it said. The statement did not provide further details. The Taliban has not yet commented. |
