#4  May be less coughing and more aspirated choking as aged lymphatic systems fail in their fluid scrubbing tasks and overloaded salivary glands purge under the pressure of agitated speaking and head bobbing.

#3   From my sci-fi fantasy view of this world, their public speaking spasms are due to resident evil rising from their blackened depths trying to choke them on the spot. They need exorcism more than prescription meds.

#2  Talking is the irritation that triggers the coughing I am certain.

I'm willing to bet the trigger is the physical exertion of getting to the place where the talking is about to take place, Dale. Prescription cough-suppressing medications can only do so much.

#1  Things are quite the mess in these days of exposure.
Pelosi with her facial spasms when in public speaking. Hilly in Philadelphia with her political book tour and lamentations of lost in election. Extended coughing spasms again which were quite lengthy. Each is having their body rebel. The body is sending signals to stop talking. The body will up the anti if they press on until they stop talking. Talking is the irritation that triggers the coughing I am certain.
