#7  ...btw, those Obama DoJ finding don't include the significant rise in robberies, burglaries and assaults that have resulted in following Ohama's DoJ's guidelines. (See - Baltimore)

#6  Said sheriff's office is the one for Bernalillo county, which includes the city of ABQ. From a 9 Aug 2017 KRQE article:
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico commissioners have decided to keep a policy declaring Bernalillo County an immigrant-friendly community despite threats from U.S. Justice Department to defund so-called sanctuary cities.

Bernalillo is New Mexico's most populous county and includes the city of Albuquerque. The county's Board of Commissioners passed the immigrant-friendly resolution in March as a symbolic gesture, and to prevent county dollars and personnel from being used to investigate anyone's immigration status or arrest individuals based on their immigration status, unless required to do so by law.

Not only "immigrant friendly" but "federal immigration enforcement UNfriendly", seems like.
Poor New Mexico, so far from heaven and so close to Texas.

#5  The sheriff of said department refuses to have his people wear body cams, as mentioned at the end of the article. For years now, there have been many complaints of inappropriate policing by county & city officials. DOJ just finished an investigation of the Albuquerque PD with following findings:

APD Engages in a Pattern or Practice of Unconstitutional Use of Deadly Force.
Albuquerque police officers shot and killed civilians who did not pose an imminent threat of serious bodily harm or death to the officers or others.
Albuquerque police officers used deadly force on individuals in crisis who posed no threat to anyone but themselves.
Albuquerque police officers' own recklessness sometimes led to their use of deadly force.
APD Engages in a Pattern or Practice of Unconstitutional Use of Less Lethal Force.
Albuquerque police officers used force against individuals who were passively resisting and posed a minimal threat.
Albuquerque police officers used excessive force against individuals with mental illness, against individuals with impaired faculties, and against individuals who require medical treatment.
Systemic Deficiencies Cause or Contribute to the Use of Excessive Force.
The Department's Inadequate Internal Accountability Measures Contribute to the Pattern or Practice of Excessive Force.
Supervisory reviews do not address excessive uses of force.
Force incidents are not properly documented.
Shooting investigations are inadequate.
Internal review mechanisms are not implemented.
The Department's Training Deficiencies Contribute to the Pattern or Practice of Unreasonable Use of Force.
The Department's Deficient Policies Contribute to the Pattern or Practice of Unreasonable Use of Force.
Under-Use of the Crisis Intervention Team Contributes to the Pattern or Practice of Unconstitutional Force.
The Department's Ineffective Use oflts Tactical Deployments Contributes to the Use of Excessive Force.
The Department's Aggressive Organizational Culture Contributes to Excessive Force Incidents.
The Department's Limited External Oversight Contributes to the Pattern or Practice of Unconstitutional Uses of Force.
Inadequate Community Policing Contributes to the Department's Pattern or Practice of Unconstitutional Force.

#4  40 years ago when I worked in NM, a black RN told me she called herself "Anglo" since there were hardly any blacks in NM at the time.

#2  Probably just curious. Ratio of population there is like white, Hispanic, native, Asian before you see anything next (unless you check the week's mug shot line up on the local news' website, then the ratio alters).
