| Afghan woman killed, 8 civilians wounded in Pakistani artillery shelling |

| [Khaama Press] A woman was killed and eight other non-combatants were killed in artillery shelling from the other side of Durand Line in eastern Kunar province ... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country..... of Afghanistan. According to the local officials, the incident took place on Monday after the Pak military opened artillery shelling on Sarkano district. The district administrative chief of Sarkano Hanif Khairkhwa confirmed that several rounds of artillery shells landed in Shongari valley on Monday. He said a woman was killed and eight other civilians from a local village were maimed in the shelling. This is not the first time the eastern and some southern provinces of Afghanistan comes under rocket attack from the other side of the Durand Line. The Pak officials are saying that the security forces of the country are only responding to the holy warriors attack. However, a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth... the local officials in Kunar province saying that thousands of rounds of artillery and rockets have been fired on different parts of Kunar province since the start of the current Afghan year. The Pak forces have also carried out artillery shelling on some parts of Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. and Kandahar province where a brief clash also took place earlier last year between the Afghan and Pak forces. |
