Police officer shoots driver after pedestrian DELIBERATELY hit in South Philadelphia

[6ABC] Police say an off-duty Philadelphia police detective shot a driver who appeared to be intentionally trying to run down people.

Capt. Sekou Kinebrew told reporters that a bicycle officer reported at about 7:30 a.m. Monday that he saw a car driving erratically near Broad and Bigler in South Philadelphia.

Kinebrew said the driver "was apparently attempting to run people over." One person was struck but the injuries weren't believed to be life-threatening.

Another driver had blocked the path of the suspect's car, and the off-duty detective approached and struggled with him.

During the struggle, the detective shot the man once in the head, and that man was initially pronounced dead. However, medics were able to revive him and he was rushed to the hospital and taken into surgery.

The detective fired more than a dozen shots, police say.

The name of the driver who was shot has not been released. He was driving a black Honda with Maryland plates and held a Virginia driver's license.

The off-duty detective involved in this incident was not injured.

They also say they obtained surveillance video showing the detective drawing his department-issued weapon and Lawal, who was around 6-foot tall and weighed around 250 pounds, charging at him.

#2  I don't know. Both Maryland and Virginia have numerous Saudi jihadi mosques. Plates and license could leave an interesting trail. Backtracking this turd's travels should be interesting but I'm not holding my breath to learn anything from the Feds.

Now what is the backstory behind him being in Philly.
