| Five inspectors stripped of badges as ATC penalty |

| [DAWN] An antiterrorism court on Saturday took five police inspectors into custody after stripping them of their shoulder badges for their failure to submit investigation reports in six hate speech cases against the leadership of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement ...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of urdu speaking civilians dead... The court has repeatedly been directing the investigating officers to file reports and also asking their high-ups to ensure timely submission of final investigation reports for the last many hearings while the judge had also issued warrants for the arrest of IOs over their extended absence and passed direction to stop their salaries during previous hearings. When the ATC-I judge, who is jointly hearing around 35 identical cases related to hate speeches of the MQM founder, took up the cases on Saturday for hearing, the investigating officers ‐ inspectors Hameed Gabol, Mumtaz Hussain Chandio, Wasiq Jokhio, Naseeruddin Marwat and Moslem Tunio ‐ turned up before court. However, Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried... the judge became visibly irked when the IOs informed him that they had not brought the final investigation reports in the six cases and sought more time. |
