Ohio Sheriff Offers Free Concealed Carry Classes to Teachers
2018-02-20
[Townhall] On Sunday afternoon, Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones announced that he will be offering an opportunity for educators to learn how to defend themselves and potentially protect the lives of their students.

Sheriff Jones tweeted that he will offer free concealed carry classes to teachers in Butler County, OH. Jones emphasized that there will be a limited number.

On Thursday, he shared a Facebook video, saying, "the current way we do things in the school system needs to be changed." He also called for "armed guards in the schools, we need to look at metal detectors. This is not going to stop or go away, but we need to be prepared and not have our heads in the sand."

#4  My part of the world. I’m very pleased, though I didn’t realize the history, Tzsenator. I’m glad you do.

#3  Butler County and Hamilton Ohio have had a string of strong chiefs who have kept the area from “going Chicago” since industry collapsed in the late 70’s through the current opioid crisis. Both departments are splendid examples.

#1  Nice gesture and perhaps a good start. But the average CC permit training mostly covers legal carry regulations. Rarely do any of those half-day classes even adequately cover self-defense. Ideally, they should have forceable tactics training.
