The Liberal 'Listen to the Children' Anti-Gun Exploitation Machine Is Rolling
2018-02-22
[Townhall] Remember the Whitney Houston song "The Greatest Love Of All"? The sappy 80s cover of the 70s George Benson hit starts:
I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be....
It was cheesy and typical of pop songs at the time, as most of the music that came out of the 80s was. Now it’s the basis for how liberals view unalienable rights explicitly protected in the Constitution.

The idea that we should "listen to the children" is a variation on a popular liberal mantra that whatever big government program they’re pushing is "for the children!" History is littered with the shards of the liberty we used to enjoy that were chipped away in the name of "the children."

But now the left has gone a step further and are insisting absolute moral authority be instilled in children and legislative action be taken to limit, yet again, the Second Amendment rights of innocent Americans because a monster did something awful at a school in Florida. It’s insane, but not surprising.

It’s an emotional play by the left (pretty much every left-wing activist group and media outlet is involved now) to prevent people from thinking logically about why anyone but the guilty should be punished for the actions of someone not them. People overwhelmed by emotions rarely, if ever, think or act logically.

#10  Excuse me, I can't stop myself, my highly tuned sense of conspiracy with Zero's administration has me wondering about everything, including the timing of the Parkland shooting

That would be... well reasoned "sense of conspiracy."

#9  I wonder how many of the weapons being used by thugs and gangs on our city streets started off with Fast and Furious and worked their way across the border OR were never walked across in the first place with the intention of increasing gun violence in the US???

Excuse me, I can't stop myself, my highly tuned sense of conspiracy with Zero's administration has me wondering about everything, including the timing of the Parkland shooting...I know it is highly unlikely but you know what they say about coincidence and the need for something to get the failing Russian Collusion narrative off the front page...

#8  Fine. They are being manipulated by adults to believe that their feelings are superior to experience and reasoning. That's going to disappoint them greatly on down the line. They have it coming for being so deluded.

#7  I understand the children are upset, but I don't understand how they easily were led to blame the weapons and not the school which knew the kid was dangerous, or the FBI, which cleared him for background checks and ignored followup warnings.

The system failed them entirely, and they have all the right in the world to be angry about that, but instead they blame the tool used to do the killings instead. That is why kids can't vote and why I'm glad most college kids are too lazy to vote, instead of questioning authority they just follow the leader these days.

#6  I can understand how some of these students are upset. They've just been shot at and seen their classmates die. But when they've had a chance to calm down it might be helpful if some of their teachers led them through a critical analysis of the facts and then tried to apply some logic.

Another point I'd like to make is that the main stream media coverage is ridiculous and counterproductive unless they want more shootings. Deranged individuals see the TV focusing on all this hysteria and they are inspired to get in on it.

I'd like to hear some of these media types demand to know when Trump is gonna fire Christopher Wray.

#5  ..which is why they disconnected the original link between militia duty and the franchise. Skin in the game.

#4  Well, if they can't be trusted with guns, they certainly shouldn't be allowed to vote.

#3  These are the same children that were singing the Obama hymns in 2009.

#2  I have heard the argument made that 'children' of 19 or 20...get your mind around that for a second, are not capable of owning firearms and most specifically long rifles. So, why would anybody in the right mind let a group composed of 15-17 yr olds dictate ANYTHING whatsoever?

#1  Astroturfing.

2,500 years since the moralist warned about Chicken Little. Human behavior hasn't changed a bit.
