#6  For instance, while it's fairly well-established that Assad funneled terrorists to Iraq to kill GI's, Erdogan never did.

#5  It's possible we can't afford an open break with Turkey because a good chunk of our air assets are operating out of Incirlik. As recently as last October, they were used to help retake Raqqa. I suspect any break with Turkey, if it materializes, will have to wait on the removal of our men and equipment from Turkey. It's also a possibility that a good chunk of Erdogan's rhetoric is part of long-standing anti-American more bark than bite BS that comes from many of our allies, including Greece.

#4  The US provides financial aid to the YPG to fight ISIS. The US announced a plan to put 30,000 YPG in place as a post ISIS security force. Turkey, a US partner NATO allie protested and then attacked on January 20 after the US said on January 17 they would not defend the YPG against such an attack.

This is a Tillerson, state department failure. Because Al Qarda and Turkey are Islamic partners which is the most important partnership to Erdagon, inshallah.
