Iraqi fighter jets launch airstrikes against Islamic State locations in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi fighter jets launched, on Tuesday evening, airstrikes against Islamic State locations in north of Kirkuk city, an official said.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, Al-Muttaleb Najmuddin, head of Altun Kupri town in Kirkuk, said “Iraqi fighter jets launched airstrikes in the evening against locations near Shani Sheen village in Altun Kupri over doubts of presence of IS havens there.”

The strikes, according to Najmuddin, “targeted other location on borders at a mountainous area between Altun Kupri and al-Dibs towns, northern Kirkuk, where IS militants are noticed there.”

Eight IS militants killed in clashes with paramilitary troops in Iraq’s Kirkuk

Kirkuk (Iraqinews.com) – Eight Islamic State (IS) militants, including a suicide attacker, were killed in a face-off with paramilitary forces in southern Kirkuk, a military spokesman was quoted as saying.

Speaking to Alghad Press news website, Ali al-Husseini, a spokesman for al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) northern axis, said “During a military operation to hunt for Islamic State militants in Kirkuk, paramilitary troops of al-Hashd al-Shaabi found a hideout that was used by the militant group at al-Aziziyah village in southern Kirkuk.”

“The troops immediately stormed the hideout and killed eight Islamic State militants, including a suicide bomber,” Husseini said, adding that one of al-Hashd al-Shaabi fighters was killed in the clashes as well.
