DC's Projected High School Graduation Rate Drops To 42% |
2018-03-02 |
[WAPO] Fewer high school seniors in the District are expected to receive diplomas in June than in the year before, a sharp reversal for a school system that had celebrated a 20-point increase in its graduation rate since 2011. Data released Thursday by D.C. Public Schools shows that 42 percent of seniors attending traditional public schools are on track to graduate, while 19 percent are considered "moderately off-track," meaning they could still earn enough credits for a diploma. The likely drop in the graduation rate is the latest fallout from an investigation that cast doubt on the validity of diplomas awarded last year. The graduation rate in 2017 was 73 percent, but the probe revealed that one in three graduates received their diplomas in violation of city policy. Those students had walked across graduation stages despite missing too many classes or improperly taking makeup classes. Emphasis added. |

#5 $19,396 per pupil. Why are democrat controlled cities such underperforming cesspools? Contrast this to a private high school in DC. St. John's College High School is an elite, private, Catholic school located in Washington, DC. It has 1,113 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 12 to 1. Tuition is $18,465 for the highest grade offered. After graduation, 99% of students from this school go on to attend a 4-year college. |

#3 It is a Third world Nation that happens to have the US Government inside of it. Or "because it has"? |

#2 No one learns shit in the Nations Capitol. Even the prep schools are commie which is why they never should represent the rest of the Nation. It is also why the District should never be allowed to vote as a state. It is a Third world Nation that happens to have the US Government inside of it. Corruption begats corruption. |

#1 ...cast doubt on the validity of diplomas awarded last year. Last year and nearly any year or any institution of learning since about 1970. Surprise meter has been requested. |
