2018-04-07 |
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Shiite militia, Liwaa al-Baqir, announced through their official Facebook page on Friday that they will be starting a military operation in eastern Syria. The Iranian-supplied militia stated that this operation will concentrate on eastern Syria, with a strong emphasis on the US-controlled areas in the Deir Ezzor Governorate. Recently, Liwaa al-Baqir received new military supplies from Iran, which will likely be used to cross the Euphrates River to fight the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in eastern Deir Ezzor. Liwaa al-Baqir is considered one of the most powerful groups in the Aleppo Governorate, boasting thousands of members from the predominately Shiite towns of al-Zahra’a and Nubl. |
