[ALMASDARNEWS] The Egyptian Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday that their forces had killed a wanted jihadist leader in the Sinai Peninsula this week.According to the Ministry of Defense, the jihadist leader, Nasser Abu Zaqoul, was killed during the Egyptian Army’s large-scale assault on the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula.
The military said it found a rifle, two grenades and a large quantity of ammunition with the slain Lion of Islam leader.
The Egyptian army launched a major offensive against the jihadists on February 9 in the northern Sinai Peninsula, in an attempt to neutralise a local branch of IS.
