A bulldozer was cleaning rubbles when it hit a VBIED buried under the wreckage of a bombed-out building. The blast killed 2 and 3 others in the Kurdish-controlled city. Raqqa served as the de-facto capital of the so-called Islamic State for years before the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces capture the city in October 2017 after months-long battles. Last month, the Russian envoy to the UN slammed the US and its Kurdish proxies for failing to rebuild the devastated city and help the afflicted civilians. |
