Three tribal fighters killed in bomb blast, northwest of Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Three tribal fighters were killed on Monday due to a bomb blast that occurred, northwest of Kirkuk, a security source from the province was quoted saying.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said “a bomb placed on the side of a road near one of the villages in Dibs town, northwest of Kirkuk, went off, today, targeting a vehicle for tribal mobilization fighters. Three personnel were killed.”

“Security forces, according to the source, who preferred anonymity, “transferred the victims to forensic medicine department and conducted investigations.”

4 Islamic State terrorists killed while trying to target security sites in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (Iraqinews.com) – Four Islamic State (IS) terrorists were killed Monday while trying to attack security and residential sites in Kirkuk, Alghad Press quoted the security media center as saying in a statement.

“Troops of the 11th brigade of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) killed four terrorists of the Islamic State group near a security checkpoint in al-Riyadh district, southwest of Kirkuk,” the statement read.

“According to preliminary reports, the terrorists were planning to target security and residential sites in the city,” the center said, adding that the pro-government forces of al-Hashd al-Shaabi managed to foil their plot and launched an operation to secure the whole area.

Kirkuk officials previously urged reinforcing military troops in the south and west of the province, as the region still has Islamic State members who escaped during liberation of Hawija to remote areas.

Iraqi police kill Islamic State security official in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (Iraqinews.com) – Federal police of Iraq killed on Monday the so-called Islamic State (IS) security official in Hawija district in Kirkuk, a police chief was quoted as saying.

“Troops of the federal police, in coordination with the Iraqi intelligence service, killed Ahmed Talaat al-Turkmani, codenamed as Abu Omar al-Turkmani, in a joint operation in Shalaka area, south of Kirkuk,” Knooz Media quoted Federal Police Chief Raed Shaker Jawdat as saying in a statement.

“Al-Turkmani was responsible for the security file in Hawija and Riyadh districts in Kirkuk,” Jawdat added.
