Guatemala: Fuego eruption 'cooked people trapped in their homes' |
2018-06-10 |
[Al Jazeera] Shocked survivors of a devastating explosive eruption of a volcano in Guatemala have said they were not warned in advance to escape a flow of hot gas and volcanic mud that consumed their villages and killed at least 109 people. Volcan de Fuego, in southern Guatemala, began spewing streams of red-hot lava and shooting out thick smoke and ash on Sunday that rained down onto several regions and the capital, Guatemala City, 30km away from the hardest-hit area. Nearly 200 people are still missing. |

#3 Yep, and Katrina drowned people in their attics. Screaming and clawing the rafters as the water rose and pushed out the last of the air. Nearly an order of magnitude more died of drowning. Living on the berm of an active volcano? Who needs warnings. Can't wait for Seattle to go. |

#2 Same government doesn't warning their citizens that crossing into the Southwest of the US can be equally deadly during this time of year. It's like they don't care about the fate of some of their own citizens, much like some |

#1 The hot gas collapsed their lungs after passing out from the sulphur fumes. Then your body bakes. They say hell is a lot like that. |
