| Explosion in Jalalabad city leaves a child dead, 7 other civilians wounded |

| [Khaama (Afghanistan)] A child was killed and seven other civilians were maimed in an kaboom in Jalalabad city, the bustling provincial capital of eastern Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. province. Provincial governor’s front man Ataullah Khogyani confirmed the incident took place at around 6 am local time in the second police district of the city. He said explosives planted in front of a shop went off in Ahangaran area, leaving a 10-year-old child dead and injuring seven other civilians. Khogyani further added that at least four children and the shopkeeper are among those maimed. No individual or group has so far grabbed credit behind the incident. The anti-government armed Lion of Islam groups frequently use explosives materials for the roadside kaboomings and boom-mobileings to target the government staff and security personnel. However, there's more than one way to stuff a chicken... in majority of such incidents the ordinary civilians are targeted besides such bombings incur casualties to the security personnel and in some cases the Talibs themselves are killed or maimed. A total of 10,453 civilian casualties ‐ 3,438 people killed and 7,015 injured ‐ were documented in the 2017 Annual Report released last month by the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and the UN Human Rights Office. |
