| Ethiopian PM escapes grenade attack, one dead, scores hurt |

| ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) - A grenade attack killed one and wounded scores at a rally by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Saturday in what he said was an attempt to divide the nation just two months after he took office. Police said six suspects had been detained, without giving details, while state media said nine police officials, including the deputy commissioner of the Addis Ababa Police Commission, were being held over security failings. Abiy, a former soldier, took office in April, pledging to bring more transparency to government and reconciliation to a nation of 100 million people that has been torn by protests since 2015. |
