Gazans breach border, set fire to army post; IDF opens fire, killing one
2018-07-03
[IsraelTimes] Military says two other Paleostinians taken into custody, one at death's door who was flown to hospital in IDF helicopter; fourth suspect flees back into the Strip

Israeli troops shot up four Paleostinians who breached the southern Gazoo security fence and set fire to an empty Israel Defense Forces post on Monday, killing one of them, the army said.

According to the military, the four Paleostinian youths broke through the fence east of Rafah in the southern Strip and set fire to a sniper’s nest near the border.

"IDF troops spotted the infiltration and monitored the incident. The troops chased after the terrorists, during which time they shot up them," the army said.

"As a result of the gunfire, one terrorist was killed, another was critically injured and was taken for medical treatment, and one was handed over to security forces for interrogation," the IDF said in a statement.

The critically maimed Paleostinian suspect was evacuated to Beersheba’s Soroka Medical Center in an IDF helicopter, the army said. A hospital spokesperson said his condition had been improved to moderate and that he was undergoing treatment in the trauma center.

According to Paleostinian media, one of the suspects made it back to the Gazoo Strip. He was taken to a nearby hospital with a bullet wound in his shoulder, the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run Gazoo health ministry said.

During the chase after the suspects, the soldiers reported hearing gunshots fired at them, the army said.

The Shehab news outlet, which is affiliated with the Hamas terror group, reported that the shots were fired by members of Paleostinian terrorist groups in the area.

No Israeli injuries were reported.
Ynet adds:
Gazoo's health ministry said a 16-year-old Paleostinian was maimed by Israeli gunfire in the southern Gazoo Strip. It's unclear if the two incidents are related.

According to an update given by Minister Gila Gamliel, some 450 incendiary kites were shot down by IDF drones; 260 Paleostinians crossed the border fence and caused 203 fires; and some 19,000 dunams (some 47,000 acres) were destroyed as a result of the blazes in the Gazoo border area, causing significant damage.

Also Monday afternoon, a large blaze was raging in the Shikma Stream area in the northern Negev. Some 200 dunams (about 50 acres) have been burned so far. Firefighting forces have yet to gain control of the fire.
